How to do Country French Design

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Beverly Vosko, a licensed ASID (allied member) Interior Designer. I grew up in New York and have lived in Europe (England and Switzerland) for over 10 years. I have been a High end Residential Interior Designer who specializes in Antiques, and have taught both Antiques and Interior Design for over 25 years. Whether it is Traditional, Transitional, Contemporary or Eclectic, I've done it! I am now going to share some of my tips with you! And I welcome your questions and comments. If you are having a difficult time with an area of your home, send me the details and I'll try and help you! All you have to do is email me at beverly@vosko.com
Do you love "the Country French look"?
It is very popular in Houston, where I now live.
Country French Design is the picture of understated luxury. Inspired by the sun-drenched colors of southern France, it exudes comfort, tradition, grace and especially charm and old-world relaxed elegance. It is the harmonious mingling of fabrics with soothing textures and pleasing patterns. "The Country French look" is mellow old wooden furniture with warm patinas - armoires, country tables and chairs juxtaposed against honey colored sisal, chunky sea grass or antique rugs, resting on world styled stone, tile or wooden plank floors, which create a wonderful comforting ambience.
The first way to create the Country French look is with color. Paint is also the easiest and cheapest way to dramatically change the look of a room!
Typical country French colors evoke the French landscape, soft golden yellows like the sun, greens that resemble the exterior foliage, pinky reds and vibrant blues. Mix these with uneven textured walls to remind us of old homes in the French Countryside.
